Burgers & Fries Served at Stanley Valley Market

Burgers & Fries Served at the Stanley Valley Market

Stanley Valley Market, owned by Rick & Joyce Smith is not just a convenience store with gas pumps out front. They grill some of the best burgers. The fries and onion rings are also delicious. There’s the Game Room at Stanley Valley Market. It’s a room in back of the Market. They also have a get-together now and then. Back in April they had a covered dish supper with a big turnout.

They also grill the best hamburgers and cheeseburgers in the Surgoinsville, Tennessee part of Stanley Valley. Their onion rings are the tastiest. Your order is to go or you can munch on your food in the back at the table where all the locals hang out.

It Was Fun Watching our County Commissioner Flipping Burgers

In the early part of the afternoon you can catch Danny Alvis, one of Hawkins County Commissioners flipping burgers or chatting with the regulars as they come in to pay for their gas or their snacks. Carolyn Boldery, another employee often mans the register up front when Danny is busy with other stuff.

Besides Burgers You Get the Neighborhood News

This is the place to hang out while listening to what’s going on in Stanley & Caney Valleys. In fact this is where I get some of my neighborhood news for the Across the Fence columnĀ  on Tuesdays. I cover the ‘soft’ social news for the Kingsport Times-News on Hawkins County. Across the Fence is more like a print version of Facebook… but with a local twist.

You’ll also find out about the old folk remedies, farming news and hear many a yarn spun around the table in the back.

Check out the local flavor of Stanley Valley Market in Surgoinsville, Tennessee. It’s less than five miles from where Stanley Valley intersects 11W, also where Caney Valley Loop intersects with Stanley Valley next to the Stanley Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
